1 Keep a note book and add vocabulary – every day, every now and then, at your workplace… Why not keep such a little booklet and fill it with the words you want to remember?

2 Use an app / podcast / other sources – regularly, e.g. once a week, when you walk the dog, when you do the dishes or drive to work? We spend so much time scrolling through the internet… Why not use some time in your week to brush up your English skills?

3 Copy from natives – when you get emails. Many of us come across English when we listen or read or get an email… Why not take a not or mark interesting wordings, vocabulary etc..? However, to start doing this, you need to have realized: I am now getting into a learning mode 🙂

4 Communicate in English – regularly, e.g. on what`s app, social media – it has never been so easy…. Back in the 90s of the last century… there were not many opportunities to get involved.. Today, you can talk to an avatar daily, if you want. …Why not try it out – you might be surprised how much you like it. BTW: We, the Three English Experts are going to offer a Conversation Club online from Feb 2026 – a place you can join in a very easy way – no pressure, just a place to practice with others in a small group.

5 Repeat your vocabulary – several times/week. Practice, practice, practice.. there is no such a thing like playing an instrument or speaking a new language without training. Im afraid, that`s part of the game. If you are aiming at speaking the language fluently and spontaneously.

6 Consume English – listen to radio/ watch videos, series. Again, like with no.4 – it has never been so easy to consume. … Why not get into the habit of listening to some international news or watching one of your favorite series` in English?

7 Set yourself a goal – e.g. in 6 month-time I want to…. Without a goal, time will just pass by without you changing anything. Goals help us achieve things.

8 Visit the country – a short trip to London is great fun… Why not plan a holiday in an English-speaking country? A day-trip will also do or a long weekend. In any case, a journey like this will help you – as a language learner – get much more involved in the language and .. Who knows? You might get a boost of motivation from it.

9 Record yourself – find a link below-…. If you want to speak up in English in front of others – Why not speak to yourself first but listen to it, too. You can also do that on different apps. Try it out, I would say.

10 Write short texts – regularly … or at least maybe Christmas Cards in English next time?
